Port Charlotte, FL – The Ken
Roberson Campaign announced today that
over 65 local business persons, community
leaders, and local politicians have
endorsed Ken’s campaign to succeed Michael
Grant as the next State Representative for
District 71. Roberson made the
ballot by collecting petition signatures.
Senator Mike Bennett in his letter of
endorsement said, "I am endorsing
Ken Roberson as the best candidate to
represent this area. Ken is a successful
small businessman who through longtime
community service understands the area and
its needs. Most importantly he is a man of
character and integrity."
John L. Watters, D.M.D of Panther
Hollow Dental Lodge of Port Charlotte in
his endorsement is quoted as saying,
"He is a very successful businessman who
is highly admired and respected by the
residents of Port Charlotte. He has always
devoted his skills, energy and countless
hours to community, county and state
projects."
The list includes: State
Representative Ron Reagan, all of the
North Port City Commissioners, four
Charlotte County Commissioners, former
State Representatives of District 71, Dave
Bitner and Jerry Paul, former State
Representative of District 72 & Speaker
Pro Tempore of the Florida House of
Representatives Lindsay Harrington and the
Sheriff of Charlotte County.
Jim Hageman, Executive Director
of the Charlotte County Cultural Center,
who is also serving as the local campaign
manager of the Roberson campaign said,
"Ken has been working hard to be the next
State Representative for District 71. He
has strong community support at both the
grassroots level as evidenced by his being
first to qualify by petition, as well as
broad community leadership backing. They
recognize that Ken has a proven record of
accomplishment both professionally and
publicly. He has served in numerous
leadership positions both at the local and
state level, and is prepared to lead and
represent our district when elected."
Kenneth L. “Ken” Roberson is a Florida
native and was born in Bradenton, Manatee
County, Florida in 1943. He was educated
in Florida’s public school system. Ken
knows the value of a dollar and hard work.
At the age of 12 he started delivering
newspapers for the Bradenton Herald. He
worked while in high school and while
attending college. Ken has owned and
operated his own business, serving the
citizens of Charlotte, Sarasota and Lee
Counties for 32 years. Ken’s family
includes, two sons, Mark L. (wife, Connie)
Roberson of Woodstock, GA and James Clay
(wife, Toni) Roberson, who is in business
with his father, of Port Charlotte; six
grandchildren, Trent, Abby, Zachary,
Hannah, Hayden, and Halayna Roberson; his
mother, Mary Roberson; three sisters, and
many nieces and nephews.
District 71 covers parts of Charlotte,
Sarasota & Lee Counties and is currently
held by State Representative Michael
Grant, a candidate for the Florida Senate
